About the Post-Master’s Research at PPGBTC

 

Master’s degree holders may conduct post-master’s research at UFSC, provided that they are not members of the University’s staff and that they are able to undertake full-time activities in the graduate program in which they will be enrolled.


Admission

 

The duration of the post-master’s research will be of at least 3 (three) and at most 12 (twelve) months, with the possibility of a further extension of up to 12 (twelve) months, at the discretion of the delegate council of the program and upon the detailed opinion of the supervisor.

To apply for admission, send the following documents via the Application Portal, in a single PDF or in a single compressed file (ZIP).

  2. Letter of acceptance from the supervising professor, member of the intended graduate program;
  3. Copy of the master’s degree certificate or statement of defense and approval of the master’s thesis;
  4. Updated curriculum vitae, generated on the LATTES platform, or, in the case of foreigners, a CV that includes your ORCID number;
  5. Work plan containing a brief research project (maximum 20 pages) and the activities execution schedule;
  6. Statement that you have full-time availability for the activities to be developed during the post-master’s research;
  7. Official letter of release from professional activities, in case you have an employment relationship;
  8. IMPORTANT: In case you DO NOT RECEIVE A GRANT, the necessary documentation is:
    1. If there is NO employment relationship: Volunteer Service Agreement duly signed by you, the program coordinator, and the witnesses. The agreement will be digitally signed by the Prorector for Graduate Studies when it is forwarded to CBO/PROPG for analysis.
    2. Declaration of financial capacity to defray personal expenses and to cover expenses related to carrying out the research project, if the candidate does not receive a grant.

Extension – you should send the documents via the Application Portal, including the report of the activities carried out and the work plan for the requested extension period.

Completion – you should send the documents via the Application Portalwithin 30 (thirty) days after the end of the research activities, including the detailed report of the activities developed, duly endorsed by the supervising professor, and your intellectual production attached.

Upon receipt of the application, the application will be reviewed by the PPGBTC Delegate Council within 30 days and, if approved, the Integrated Graduate Office will forward the application to the Prorectorate for Graduate Studies for enrollment completion.

The Post-Master’s Research is regulated by NORMATIVE RESOLUTION No. 63/2019/CPG, OF 12 DECEMBER 2019 (In Portuguese).
