Postdoctoral Research

About the Postdoctoral Research at PPGBTC

As provided for in Normative Resolution No. 173/2022/CUn, doctoral degree holders may conduct postdoctoral research at UFSC provided that they are able to fulfill the work plan approved by the Graduate Program in which they will be enrolled.

The postdoctoral researchers must dedicate at least 20 (twenty) hours per week to the development of the activities outlined in the work plan at the Graduate Program.

The postdoctoral researchers who are sponsored by funding agencies must dedicate 40 (forty hours) per week to the development of the activities outlined in the work plan at the Graduate Program, and must not be a staff member at UFSC.

The duration of the postdoctoral research will be of at least three and a maximum of twelve months, with the possibility of up to four extensions of a maximum of twelve months each, at the discretion of the delegate council of the Program and upon the detailed opinion of the supervisor.

Admission

Unlike admission to the master’s and doctoral degree programs, admission as a postdoctoral researcher  in the PPGBTC takes place in two ways: 1) by submitting an application to the PPGBTC Delegate Council, according to the instructions available on this website, when the researcher is a volunteer or  has a grant offered directly by the supervisor; or 2) by applying through a postdoctoral call for applications, when it is the responsibility of PPGBTC to distribute grants. Currently, PPGBTC only makes grants available through calls for applications linked to the CAPES-PrInt projects in which it participates (when there is a specific call for applications).
